This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes the information that George School (“George School”, “we,” “us”) collects through our website located at www.georgeschool.org (the “Site”) and how we use that information. If you have any questions or comments about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at web_director@georgeschool.org.

Information Gathering
Current George School parents have been issued a password that allows them to access the “Parents” portion of my.georgeschool.org that contains student grades, schedules, and billing information.

Alumni choose their own login names and passwords that permit them to enter the online “Alumni Community” website, whereupon they may access information contained in that protected area of the website. We compare our online registration records with our alumni database to ensure that only alumni can become registered users of the Alumni Community portion of our website. If your name does not show up in any online list or database, and as a member of the George School community you believe it should, please contact the Advancement office at advancement@georgeschool.org. It’s possible that we do not have your current address on file or that we do not have a record for you in our database. Upon verification, you will be provided with a password that allows you to enter protected areas. You may also opt to remove your name or email address from online lists or databases at any time by making that request to advancement@georgeschool.org.

An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a set of numbers that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you log in to your internet service provider. Web servers, the computers that provide web pages for viewing, automatically identify your computer by the IP address assigned to it during your session. George School may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website by identifying which parts of our site are most heavily used—very much like television ratings that tell the networks how many people tune in to a program—and which portion of our audience comes from within the George School network. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable. This means our user sessions may be tracked, but the users themselves will remain anonymous. “Cookies,” which are pieces of information that a website sends to your computer while you are viewing the site, are used by the George School site to allow users to customize the calendars and content they view. Again, no identifiable information is exchanged.

Use of Information
We use your personal data to keep track of you—our alumni, parents, grandparents, and other friends—for the purpose of notifying you of events and information relative to George School that may be of interest to you.

We also use the information that has been gathered to tailor site content to user needs and to generate aggregate statistical reports. At no time do we disclose site usage by individual IP addresses. Web server logs are retained on a temporary basis and then deleted completely from our systems.

We may request your email address or mailing address on some of the forms contained on the site. Whenever we request the identity of a visitor, we will clearly indicate the purpose of the inquiry before the information is requested. Any personal information you share with us, including email or mailing addresses, is kept private. We maintain a strict “No-Spam” policy which means we do not sell, rent, or otherwise give your email or mailing address to a third party. In addition, George School will not send you email that you have asked not to receive; responding to an email you’ve received from the school by addressing it to advancement@georgeschool.org will remove you from that mailing list.

Students and Prospective Students
George School believes that children should get their parents’ consent before giving out any personal information.

Security
George School uses precaution when sending or receiving personal or financial information over the Internet. Unfortunately, no security system, or system of transmitting data over the internet, can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. As a result of the foregoing, while we undertake commercially reasonable efforts to protect your personally identifiable information, we cannot guarantee the security of our servers, the means by which information is transmitted between your computer and our servers, or any information provided to us or to any third party through or in connection with the website.

George School’s website may contain links to other websites. George School is not responsible for the privacy practices of sites that link to or from www.georgeschool.org, and we encourage you to read the privacy policies on linked sites as their standards may differ from ours.

Revisions to Privacy Policy
George School reserves the right to update and revise this Privacy Policy at any time. You can determine if this Privacy Policy has been revised since your last visit by referring to the “Effective Date of Current Policy” date at the top of this page. Your use of our site constitutes your acceptance of the terms of the Privacy Policy as amended or revised by us, and you should therefore review this Privacy Policy regularly to ensure that you are aware of its terms.
